Week 9 # 23

I have to say that this experience has been more enjoyable than I thought it may be. The steps were put together in a way that allowed me to focus on one new technology at a time - which lessens confusion in my already cluttered mind! Most of the steps were easy to follow, which meant success was easily attained, which of course led to increased confidence and a greater willingness to try the next new thing! Frequent bouts of frustration will eventually discourage me from wanting to try something new - so I am pleased that frustrations were few and far between - which states how well this program was put together.I think this program is a great learning tool. It would be great to have new "modules" made as more newer technology becomes available - that way we could do just that module and stay updated without becoming overwhelmed.

Thanks to the program put together by Jayne Gutry and her team. It was so fun having to get all those genius ticks by them.

I enjoyed the ACL Learning 2.0.

Week 9 # 22

Ebooks, I have been hearing about them for couple of years now and how they are going to to take over the actual books one day but I personally think that day will never come because there is nothing like reading the actual book. But there are many things about e books I really like such as many users can download one book at one book at one time by downloading them which makes it things very easy when availability of book is limited. Another this it is a very good way to preserve old books because digital copies can easily be copied from one computer to another which makes one good copy of book un-damageable. Almost all of the popular books are available as books to download so everyone should play around with them

I did join e book library and given are few books from my favourite list, but no I do not like to read e books.

Week 9, #21 Podcast

I had fun exploring podcasts - I found things there I wouldn't have imagined...like old broadcasts of the radio programs. It made me think that links to podcasts of this kind would be great to have on our website - certainly there are others who would get a kick of listening to old broadcasts for free!

Above is the link to the British Library, I worked for The British Library in Mumbai, India for about 8 years before moving to New Zealand, podcast are very good to keep library customerd up to date on resources and happenings in the library like author talks etc.

Week 9 #20 you tube

Since anyone can put videos on these public sites like YouTube, there will always be some trash to be found, but there are so many good videos out there. I found one showing the flowers and how they bloom, the different colours and species of flowers. It is so nice to see something like this. This reminded me that a site like YouTube can be used to promote ideas, to share fun videos, to educate (I saw one video on how to use a library's catalog), and these videos are accessible to everyone. This would be a good place for teachers to at least explore to find short videos on topics they are covering. Certainly there are some opportunities here for libraries such as creating videos for training, for connecting with other libraries both within and out of the county. Imagine creating a video showing various library services and telling schools, media specialists, etc. the URL, or putting that URL on our webpage!

Week 9 # 20

YouTube is the revolutionary site of new web age. I remember back in 2004 when it started there were just bunch of videos on a website because people didn't have that much bandwidth at home in order to upload videos but now Broadband is cheap and with online age you tube has become essential part of internet. It has been so successful that companies like Google are following on its footsteps and creating there similar service.

Week 8, # 19

I cataloged 15 of my books in LibraryThing. I thought it was easy. I really enjoyed looking at it with the tag cloud. That is very cool. It will be awesome to see when you have lots of books and tags. It is cool that you can link to author pages. I will do that later. I checked a couple of the sites where people linked LibraryThing to their existing catalog. I don't see the point. Maybe I just don't get it. I am amazed how it pulls the info from Amazon. You don't have to copy and paste.
